Job Title:                  Construction Manager

Reports to:               CEO

Status:                      Full time

Schedule:                 Tuesday – Saturday (40 hours weekly)

Pay Rate:                 $24-$27 hour based on experience

Position Summary:


This position is responsible for supporting the affiliate in the performance of all construction activities and functions including adhering to all safety policies and procedures; local building codes; Habitat design criteria; established volunteer procedures; procurement and accounts payable procedures; and other construction and building related guidelines.  The incumbent is responsible for representing HFHBC on the worksites and in the community as the person directly in charge of all construction activities; and will have a complete understanding of all aspects of construction including planning and budget.  In accordance with Habitat for Humanity of Bay County FL housing plans, specifications and quality requirements, provides leadership and supervision of overall construction activity. 


Minimum Requirements:

 

Minimum of five years’ experience in the construction/contracting business

Valid Florida Driver’s License

Construction management experience preferred

Ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs.

Basic computer skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Proven leadership skills

Professional approach

Team Player

Organized and dependable

Must be able to work on Saturdays

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Supervises and trains other construction staff and volunteer site leaders to utilize others on team in all aspects of the builds.

Supervises job sites on each designated workday and assigns other site leaders as necessary.

Understands elements that contribute to successful volunteer experiences and makes certain that volunteers have a consistently rewarding experience

Develops the construction calendar and anticipates problems and issues to take the necessary steps to ensure schedules and deadlines are met.

Evaluates and implements good safety practices and ensures that site leaders and volunteers comply.

Collaborates regularly with other staff to ensure on-going communications with construction volunteers that are accurate and timely.

Identifies volunteer jobs and needs to grow volunteer opportunities available

Continuously accesses building practices and material cost saving opportunities.

Oversight of all site preparation needs and layout.

Addresses and supervises all home warranty complaints and repairs.

Works with the Construction Committee and CEO to establish and achieve long and short-term goals.

Orders house plans, surveys, preconstruction energy audits, blueprints,  and all inspections.

Applies for development orders, permits, certificates of occupancy, and

Orders all home materials and appliances in a timely manner and utilizes gifts in-kind and potential sponsorships whenever possible.

Lines up all sub-contractors and prepares for permitting and inspections.

Treats all partner families and volunteers with respect and dignity. Striving to make their construction involvement meaningful and rewarding.

Responsible for the construction warehouse, tool trailers and all tool inventories.

Must attend all required meetings and trainings.




Physical Requirements:


Able to perform heavy work for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift, move and/or handle merchandise weighing 50-75 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders.
