2027-2028 BBIA Board of Directors Nomination Application

Thank you for your interest in serving on the Bay Building Industries Association (BBIA) Board of Directors.

For more than five decades, the strength of BBIA has been its volunteer leaders. Our Board of Directors is responsible for providing strategic direction, protecting the long-term health of the Association, and ensuring BBIA continues to serve as the voice of the building industry throughout our region.

The BBIA Board of Directors consists of Builder and Associate members who work together to guide the Association, represent the interests of its membership, and support the long-term success of the building industry throughout our region.

Serving on the BBIA Board of Directors is both an honor and a responsibility. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about our industry, committed to serving our members, and willing to help shape the future of BBIA.

We encourage members from all areas of the building industry to apply. Whether you have served in leadership before or are ready to take the next step in your volunteer journey, we appreciate your willingness to serve.

BBIA Mission Statement

To promote improved building trade practices and community participation in local construction-related projects and programs.

Board Member Responsibilities & Expectations

Serving on the BBIA Board of Directors is an active leadership role requiring professionalism, engagement, and a commitment to advancing the interests of the building industry and the Association.

Board members are expected to:

  • Maintain membership in good standing throughout their term.
  • Attend at least nine (9) of the twelve (12) scheduled Board of Directors meetings each year.
  • Attend membership meetings, educational programs, and major Association events whenever possible.
  • Serve on at least one BBIA committee as a chair, committee member, or advisor.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in Board meetings by reviewing materials in advance and engaging in thoughtful discussion.
  • Support membership growth and retention efforts by recruiting new members, engaging existing members, and serving as an ambassador for BBIA throughout the community. Directors are encouraged to recruit at least three (3) new members annually.
  • Assist in securing sponsorships and support for non-dues revenue programs and special events.
  • Promote and support BBIA's Political Action Committee (PAC).
  • Support the Executive Officer and staff in advancing the Association's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Respect the confidentiality of Board discussions when appropriate.
  • Support Board decisions once they have been made.
  • Uphold the BBIA Bylaws, Policies, and Code of Ethics.
  • Exercise sound judgment and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities to the membership.
  • Approve budgets, strategic initiatives, and policies that guide the Association.
  • Ensure the responsible stewardship of BBIA's financial and organizational resources.
  • Help identify, mentor, and encourage future volunteer leaders.
  • Represent BBIA professionally within the community and throughout the building industry.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Board members, committee leaders, and staff to advance the Association's mission and strategic goals.

Serving on the BBIA Board of Directors is more than attending meetings—it is a commitment to leadership, service, and stewardship. Board members play an important role in strengthening our Association, supporting our members, and helping shape the future of the building industry throughout Northwest Florida.

If nominated and elected to serve on the 2027–2028 BBIA Board of Directors, I understand the responsibilities of Board service and commit to fulfilling the expectations outlined above while serving the membership of BBIA.

Time Commitment

While schedules vary throughout the year, Board members should anticipate participating in:

  • Monthly Board of Directors meetings
  • Membership luncheons and major Association events
  • Committee meetings
  • Strategic planning sessions and leadership activities as needed

Board members are encouraged to be visible ambassadors for BBIA and actively engage with members throughout the year.
